NASWI Open House
Naval Air Station Whidbey Island opened its gates on June 22 for an annual Open House. The PBY Museum participants were Mike (Bones) Legere, Osaretin Omofonmwan, John Love, Stan Prince, Patty Henry, Wayne Hill and Sonny Starks. Wil Shellenberger supervised coordination.

Dinner Auction Success
The PBY- Naval Air Museum’s 3rd Annual Dinner and Auction was a resounding
success. Over $43,000 was raised. Our Emcee, Mayor Bob Severns and Auctioneer,Chris Skinner, combined to keep guests entertained and their bid cards raised.
Dinner music was provided by a Saratoga Orchestra string quartet and the delicious meal was provided by Jackie Huerta’s Zanini Catering and Events. […]

We were honored by a visit with 99 year old AT1 George Behrend, USNR (Ret.). Behrend is a native of Bloomington, Ill. He joined the Navy in June of 1942. He left the Navy after the war but rejoined during the Korean conflict and retired from the reserves in 1974. […]

The new year in Oak Harbor started with unusual weather. February saw many sunny days which helped the volunteers who were working on the PBY. Then March blew in with days of snow! Now the volunteers had to carefully monitor the airplane for snow buildup, especially on the airplane’s wings.
