The new year in Oak Harbor started with unusual weather. February saw many sunny days which helped the volunteers who were working on the PBY. Then March blew in with days of snow! Now the volunteers had to carefully monitor the airplane for snow buildup, especially on the airplane’s wings.
The Museum closed for one day this winter because of all that snow, but on the other days, members were able to use their passes to come view our exhibits. We, also, had visitors from several states tour the Museum, as well as the Outdoor Display area.
Every week we receive membership renewals, with many supporters sending in donations for aircraft restoration, the Homoja Hut project, and to help with Museum expenses. We very much appreciate all our members and donors.

I have been enjoying my job as Tour Coordinator. So many interesting people have been visiting during the past few months.
We recently hosted a group that included WWII PBY radio and radar man, George Behrend. His daughter, Angie, gifted him with a Museum tour for his 99th birthday! George had some harrowing stories of his time in the air over the Aleutian Islands.

Jack Tobien, one of our dearest friends and a Museum Life member, recently passed away. He and his wife, Sarah, have supported us for many years. We so appreciated Jack’s patriotism and enjoyed his delightful sense of humor. May he rest in peace.
