Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum

Visit the museum and step back in history to see how a small island town was caught up in the turmoil of WWII and the building of a Naval Air Station that brought the beloved PBY Catalina amphibious aircraft to its shores.

Explore our PBY- Catalina 5A, one of the most recognizable warbirds of World War II. See the flying boat in person as you learn about the parts, pieces, and men who made the aircraft one of the most successful, search and rescue bombers of its time!

Learn the history of the PBY Catalina and the military conflicts that NAS Whidbey Island participated in.

Fly the aircraft yourself, including a PBY, in either of our two flight simulators!

We have gone to great lengths to assemble a collection of interesting and important military artifacts you are sure to enjoy.

Try it yourself! Climb into the gun turret to experience gunning on a PBY, lift a tailhook to get an idea of their weight, or wear a pair of night vision goggles to experience night vision as our troops do.

Enjoy our complete collection of merchandise at the Ship’s Store inside the museum. A greatly expanded book, clothing, and gift selection awaits you. New items are arriving all the time.
